At Mayhem Orchard and Builds, we’re all about turning the trees around you into something useful, whether that’s quality lumber for your next project or beautiful custom woodwork. From start to finish, we handle it all—tree removal, log pickup, sawmilling, kiln drying, and even finishing touches, all right in one place.
We work closely with local tree service companies to help you with everything from felling trees to getting your logs to our yard. Once there, we use our Wood-Mizer sawmills to transform your logs into top-quality lumber, and our iDRY vacuum kiln makes sure the wood is properly dried and ready for whatever you need.
What sets us apart? Simple, we are your one stop shop with the ability to go from standing timber to finish product with our services and through peers of ours that we've cultivated over the years.

Our Story
Our story begins 2013 when Cody and Chaltu meet for the first time in Cincinnati fasts forward a few years, Cody and Chaltu would moved from the suburbs of Cincinnati, OH to the countryside of Lapeer Township, MI with a dream to cultivate a life and business as a family that is organic and sustainable with our 10 acres of land that keeps us local in the community, outdoors, and active while generating a living that provides for our family.
Cody Contratto -
Born in California, raised in Michigan, Cody has been visiting the Lapeer country side since he was a little kid enjoying the outdoors. Growing up Cody's father was a builder and rough carpenter by trade, where Cody would spend summers and time off school on job sites helping getting his hands dirty where ever he could. After high school Cody would move away for school to study Automotive & Diesel Technology in Chicago, IL but ultimately his childhood and passion for the country and working with his hands would bring him back to Lapeer, MI to shape Mayhem Orchard and Builders (M.O.B.).
Chaltu Demeksa Contratto -
Born in Ethiopia, moving to the US at a young age with her family, Chaltu would end up in Cincinnati, OH, going to school where her and Cody would meet and have their first daughter Hayden "Mayhem". After a few years in Cincinnati, Chaltu and Cody would move to Michigan where she would finish her schooling to become an RN, and have their second daughter Harper Orean. Chaltu's passion for helping others and unconditional love for family provides the backbone for Mayhem Orchard and Builds.
